The Texas Crime Prevention Association (TCPA) is a 501. (c) 3 nonprofit organization composed of citizens, security professionals, loss prevention experts, and law enforcement officers from across the state. TCPA is comprised of a state board and nine affiliated but independent regions. Each region is governed by its own board of directors.
TCPA is primarily a training organization dedicated to providing excellence in training based on Crime Prevention through Environmental Design strategies focusing on post construction applications. All TCPA training courses are evidence-based and open to law enforcement personnel, security professionals, and civilians.
TCPA offers Crime Prevention Specialists Certification which includes a comprehensive exam after completing all three core academic courses. The TCPA core courses cover physical security / crime prevention, crime reduction strategies for law enforcement, basic criminology, community engagement, long-term problem solving, HARM-focused policing, public speaking, professional writing, risk and vulnerability assessments as it relates to the TCPA security assessment / survey.
