    Crime Prevention 2101 introduces students to the concepts of physical security and basic problem solving for law enforcement. Student will learn the basics of target hardening, and crime prevention. The student will be expected to conduct a student presentation as well as identify the following:

    ·        Doors

    ·        Locks

    ·        Windows

    ·        Glass 

    ·        Problem Solving and

    ·        Community Policing

    Materials: Laptop, thumb drive, paper, pen and a positive attitude.

    The TGCCPA Winter Summit is being put on by the Texas Gulf Coast Crime Prevention Association and is not a TCPA Winter Conference. Anyone is welcome to attend. Classes will be reported as TCOLE 3209 Crime Prevention In-Service.

    This Winter Summit will consist of 2-1/2 days (20 hours) of TCOLE credited training. We presented “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly of Artificial Intelligence for Law Enforcement” in September and it was very well received. We are offering it again on the final day of our Winter Summit.

    Crime Prevention 2102 covers commercial security and the TCPA Security Assessment. This course is more advanced and goes deeper into commercial applications of security and the power of prevention.  

    Crime Prevention 2102 includes:

    Crime Prevention 2103 is an introduction to Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). CPTED is a multidisciplinary approach that involves urban planning, architecture, law enforcement and community engagement. The course focuses on designing physical environments to reduce the opportunity of crime and enhance overall safety. The student will learn the basic concepts of CPTED and how they are applied in a security plan. The student will be able to identify the following:

    The 49th Annual Texas Crime Prevention Association Conference will take place on July 08, 2024, through July 11, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas at the Omni Hotels & Resorts. The 2024 conference provides continuing training education for Crime Prevention Specialists and Professionals as well as allows for the exchange of Crime Prevention programs that have been successful throughout the nation. The conference agenda will be posted upon completion.

    The Omni Hotel & Resorts is offering TCPA a special group rate of $107.00 USD per night with applicable state and local taxes. Room rate is available 3 days before and after the conference based on room availability.
